Laps for Lincoln Kicks-off on May 15th - FAQ

Read Now

There are lots of questions about Laps for Lincoln.  Take a look here at the answers to some of those questions.  Remember, you can always reach out to Lauren Shell, Laps for Lincoln Chair.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How many laps will my student run at the Laps for Lincoln Fun Run event?
ZO
OM! All students from Kindergarten up to 7th grade will run an average of 30-35 laps.

What is the distance around the Boosterthon* Speedway?
The Speedway will be set up at Oz Park and is about 1/16 of a mile per lap. *We are partnering with a third party fundraising company, Boosterthon, who will be setting up our speedway at Oz Park.

Will my child REALLY run 30-35 laps?
You betcha! The Speedway is the perfect size for students to run on—about 1/16 of a mile. It’s not too big and not too small (think Goldilocks and the Three Bears). It’s just the right size. Even our kindergarteners will complete 30-35 laps! The total is just shy of 2 miles – like a round-trip walk from school to the Lake.

Where do I enter Pledges?Where do I enter Pledges?
can log in and enter pledges at funrun.com. The class access code is located on the front of the Boosterthon pledgebook that will come home with your student on the day of the Pep Rally, 15 May.All pledges must be recorded in FunRun.com.  This is necessary for overall accounting, tracking daily/weekend challenges and collections.  There are three ways to enter pledges into FunRun.com
  1. Sponsors can record pledges directly into FunRun.com.  When they make a pledge, they will have the option to enter their credit card.  If they pledge a fixed amount, they also will have the option to make the payment up-front.  Sponsors who enter pledges online will be able to pay by credit card, cash or check

  2. Student can enter pledges for sponsors, also in FunRun.com

  3. Only if students and sponsors do not have online access, students can complete pledges on the paper pledge card.  Each morning those students should bring pledge cards to FOL, who will have a representative at a table in the main hallway of school each morning.  Ideally, those students would have registered on FunRun.com in advance at school, though if not, FOL can add a participant.  When FOL adds a participant, FunRun.com may not recognize that student on the prize report for the initial prize, so FOL will keep a list of those students.  For pledges FOL enters, students will need to provide his/her name and his/her teacher name, and for each sponsor, the sponsors name and amount pledged

When are Pledges due?edges are due on June 5th and can begin to be collected the day after the Fun Run itself. Pledges can be either paid online or through cash or check. Please make all checks payable to Friends of Lincoln
  • On Friday, June 5th FOL will have a collection table in the library and will call students with cash and checks to the library for collection.
  • Faculty and Staff are unable to collect funds, but are supportive and will help your student direct cash and check collections to FOL

What if I lost my access code?
No worries!  There are several ways to retrieve the access code:
You can send a "Help" request on funrun.com - plan for a 24 hour turn-around.
Every teacher has a list of access codes at school. You can reach out to them.
Every student in your student's class shares the same access code. If you know a parent in your class, you can reach out to them.

What if it rains or snows the day of Laps for Lincoln, May 29th?
We are going to have fantastic weather, but it is Chicago after all.  Inclement weather will put us in the gym on a much smaller scale - one class running at a time.  Boosterthon promises to bring their "A" Game either way.

Are students excluded from the Laps for Lincoln event?
Laps for Lincoln is an all inclusive event for our school.  Even if a child does not participate financially, he or she will still participate in the daily activities, still have full access to the resources at funrun.com, and if their parents register them on funrun.com, they will still get to run with their classmates in the action packed Fun Run.  Plus, every student who gets registered will receive a FREE GIFT the next school day. We want every student to have fun, even if their family is not able to participate financially.

Will Laps for Lincoln detract from school time?
Laps for Linoln exists to positively impact students by enhancing and improving America’s schools. The average student spends about 1300 hours a year in school. The three parts of the Laps for Lincoln event—team huddle days, kickoff and fun run—combine to last about two hours. Of that two hours, about 75% of that time is spent emphasizing health or fitness. That leaves about 30 minutes, stretched over 11 days, spent on the fundraising component.
