What is our mission?
The Friends of Lincoln organization seeks to improve the educational opportunities and facilities for students attending Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. Through our fundraising efforts, we strive to close the gap between public funding and the cost of a high quality education. Lincoln is one of the most coveted elementary schools in Chicago, due in part to a long-term, vibrant partnership between parents, teachers,
administrators and the broader Lincoln community. Maintaining the school's standard of excellence requires annual parent and community support.
Who are we?
Friends of Lincoln is a 501(c)3 organization established in 1980 with the sole purpose of fundraising for Lincoln. The FOL Board consists of 22 parent volunteers. FOL also maintains an Associate Board of parent volunteers.

How do we operate?
The Board of Directors meets monthly on the third Monday of every month, and welcomes participation from any member of the Lincoln community. FOL Board members are elected annually and may serve for up to two years. Board members take an active role leading fundraising events and major committees, yet rely heavily on support from the broader Lincoln community. (click here for our By-Laws)
How do we raise money?
We host three annual fundraisers which provide more than 90% of our operating funds.
1.) Phon-a-thon - Fall
2.) Auction- Winter
3.) Fun Run - Spring
In addition, we may assist in grant writing or host other small fund-drives...watch this page for more information.
What are our funding commitments?
Each school year, FOL funds priorities of the Principal, approved by the LSC and consistent with the school budget and LSC priorities. Commitments are for use in the current year, and over the last several years, the majority have been to reduce class sizes, maintain
experienced teachers, expand Lincoln's music and art programs, and better integrate technology into the classrooms.
