FRIDAY, MAY 12TH
Thank you for supporting Laps for Lincoln - a Friends of Lincoln fundraiser!
What is Laps for Lincoln?
A health and wellness focused Fun Run/Fundraiser in May at Oz Park
How does Laps for Lincoln work?
Who participates?
Every student in K-7th grade participates in Laps for Lincoln, regardless of pledges raised.
The event will take place on Friday, May 12th. Grades 2,3,4 @ 9:30am, Grades 5,6,7 @ 10:30am, Grades K,1 @ 1:30pm.
FUNDRAISING
Why are we fundraising?
The very simple answer is that CPS does not give us enough money to cover the costs of a Lincoln education. FOL has committed to raise funds for this school year to cover the costs of teacher salaries, textbooks and planners, hardware, software, education trips and substitutes for those teachers who are on education trips with students. This is
our third and final fundraiser of the year - we started off with Phon-a-thon, had the Auction and now Laps for Lincoln needs to raise the rest to cover committed expenses.
Can kids donate their own money?
This is a great question! FOL does not have a policy to address this. As a parent, I like the idea of meaningful participation - and what's more meaningful than helping to contribute to one's education? I would encourage conversation about this topic with your child.
Do you have a form that I can share with co-workers?
Yes! You can find it insert Co Worker PDF as link. Or you can pass around the pledgebook that came home with your student on Tuesday.
Can you accommodate corporate matching programs?
We can get you the 501(c)(3) information and provide any other required support to get your student's pledges matched.
PRIZES
If I raise $5 per lap, do I get all of the prizes up to $5/lap or just the one for $5/lap?
Prizes are cumulative - you get all of the prizes up to the highest amount you get pledged.
If I raise $100/lap can I run just one lap?
You can run as many laps as you'd like, however, we will stop counting and collecting at 35. If you're hoping to get the $100/lap prize, we don't give those prizes out until the money has been collected. The intention and expectation of prizes at that level is that you are raising significant dollars for the school. $100 is very significant but a prize for $100/lap assumes you are raising almost $3500.
Where do I see the prize list?
Once you log into funrun.com, a prize list scrolls across the bottom of the dashboard.
Are they the same prizes as last year?
NO! Boosterthon has changed it up for us.
What if I don't want my student to receive prizes?
We have a "green" option this year for those families who don't want all that Boosterthon branded fun in their living rooms! When you register on funrun.com, enter your last name with an * in front. For example, *Shell
PARTICIPATING
Does my child have to participate?
Your child does NOT have to raise pledges if you or your child does not want to. Period. However, Laps for Lincoln is not only a fundraiser; it's also an event to raise fitness awareness. Students have been doing exercises in PE class and talking about health and wellness issues. Our goal is 100% participation. If you don't want your child to participate in the fun run, or your child doesn't want to go to Oz Park, we will have a plan in place for them to stay at school while their class is at the event.
It's not fair that my child has to see others get prizes.
We want everyone to feel good about Laps for Lincoln. All students, regardless of pledges raised, will get a t-shirt on the day of the fun run and a goodie bag filled with treats from our sponsors. Also, if you register on funrun.com, your student will get an athletic wrist band - pretty cool!
Why does funrun.com need my contact information - and what do they do with it?
We have been assured that funrun.com and Boosterthon take privacy very seriously and they do NOT share personal information. However, they do need to confirm pledges and will use contact information to help us (FOL) collect money when it comes due on May 18th.
COLLECTIONS
When is the money due?
Friday, MAY 19th – You can easily pay online with a credit card, or you can pay with cash or check. FOL parent volunteers will be at school on the morning of Friday, May 19th where you or your student can visit the table set up inside the main entrance to drop off your collection envelope with cash or checks. You can also put it in your student's folder. We will be visiting each class room and collecting the envelopes that were not turned in at our table. Teachers should not be collecting or handling FOL donations.
